This role focuses primarily on operating production machinery in a large, clean, and highly organized manufacturing facility. You will work across multiple shifts, initially on 2nd or 3rd shift, with a transition to 12-hour rotating day or night shifts. In addition to machine operation, you will support packaging and material movement throughout the plant while following strict safety, cleanliness, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery safely and efficiently according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Monitor machines during operation, identify basic issues, and take appropriate action to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Perform routine checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Handle packaging tasks, including packing finished products and preparing materials for shipment or further processing.
  • Move parts, components, and boxes around the plant as needed to support continuous production.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to clean room protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area in line with 5S and related workplace organization practices.
  • Walk between buildings and across different areas of the plant as required to support production activities.
  • Work flexibly across 2nd and 3rd shifts, and transition to 12-hour rotating day or night shifts as the schedule changes.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and resolve day-to-day operational issues.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of manufacturing experience in a production or general labor environment.
  • Consistent work history with a minimum tenure of 6 months at each previous job.
  • Ability to maintain continuous employment without gaps longer than 30 days.
  • Experience performing general labor tasks such as material handling, packaging, and basic machine operation.
  • Willingness to wear and properly use personal protective equipment in a clean room environment.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) Monday through Friday and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) Sunday through Thursday, and to transition to 12-hour rotating day or night shifts.
  • Capacity to perform physically active work, including walking long distances within a large facility and moving parts and boxes.
  • Reliability and punctuality in adhering to assigned schedules and production demands.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very large manufacturing facility where employees walk frequently between multiple buildings and across different areas of the plant. The department operates as a clean room, requiring workers to wear specialized garb and a beard net if applicable. The workspace is meticulously clean, temperature controlled, and brightly lit, with a strong emphasis on 5S and workplace organization. Personal protective equipment is required, and the culture prioritizes safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Initially, work is performed on 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) Monday through Friday and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) Sunday through Thursday, with a planned move to 12-hour rotating day or night shifts, requiring flexibility across different schedules.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holland, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
