Role Description The Assistant Tennis Coach is a full-time, on-site position located in Edinburg, TX. This role supports the Head Tennis Coach in planning and conducting team practices, individual player development sessions, and conditioning programs that align with university and athletic department standards. The Assistant Coach helps prepare athletes for competition through technical instruction, strategy development, and match-day coaching, while promoting sportsmanship, academic success, and adherence to NCAA and conference regulations. Daily responsibilities include coordinating logistics for travel and events, assisting with recruiting prospective student-athletes, maintaining equipment and facilities, and collaborating with athletic staff on program administration. The role also involves fostering an inclusive team culture that supports the well-being and growth of all student-athletes.

- Strong tennis-specific coaching abilities, including Tennis Instruction and Tennis skills.
- Effective Communication skills for working with student-athletes, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Customer Service and interpersonal skills to create a supportive and respectful team environment.
- Training skills for developing conditioning programs and skill-building sessions.
- Knowledge of collegiate athletics standards, NCAA rules, and compliance practices.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support diverse student-athletes academically and personally.
- Organizational and time-management skills for coordinating practices, travel, and events.
- Prior coaching or competitive playing experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
