Job Description
Snyder Environmental Services seeks a hands-on Assistant Controller to oversee daily accounting operations and support the CFO with accurate reporting, financial analysis, and continued business growth. This role reports directly to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end/year-end closing; prepare financial statements.
- Oversee sales and use tax, B&O taxes, assist with license renewals, audit support, and financial compliance.
- Own payroll tax filings and reconciliations, serve as a backup for full cycle weekly payroll, certified payroll reporting, and prevailing wage/fringe benefit compliance.
- Prepare and analyze construction work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, job costs, project profitability, and over/under billings.
- Support the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, acquisitions, internal controls, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience, including general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and close processes.
- Experience with payroll taxes, certified payroll, prevailing wages, job costing, and construction WIP reporting.
- Ability to independently process payroll as needed, investigate discrepancies, and verify calculations beyond software outputs.
- Advanced Excel skills, strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Construction accounting experience strongly preferred; bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Work is onsite, typical hours are Mon-Fri 8:00 to 5:00 with occasional overtime
