Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience and pediatric background for an evening shift assignment at a Level III trauma center.

  • Short-term acute care Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds
  • \n

  • Part of the Yale New Haven Health System
  • \n

  • Respiratory therapy unit supporting adult critical care, emergency department, NICU, and pediatrics
  • \n

  • Evening shift, 4x10 hour shifts (14:45-0:45)
  • \n

  • 40 hours per week with 8 and/or 12 hour shifts based on department need
  • \n

  • Evening and/or night shifts required
  • \n

  • Weekend rotation at least every other weekend
  • \n

  • Holiday rotation at least every other holiday
  • \n

  • Floating to Westerly Hospital as needed
  • \n

  • Uses Epic charting system
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required in specialty
  • \n

  • Pediatrics experience required
  • \n

  • CT and RI state licenses required (license required if applicable; can start with one active and one pending)
  • \n

  • BLS certification required
  • \n

  • CRT certification required
  • \n

  • RRT certification preferred
  • \n

  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • \n

  • 1 professional reference required
  • \n

  • Experience with NICU and pediatric equipment/procedures preferred, including bubble CPAP, CPAP/nasal CPAP/BIPAP, and umbilical blood gases
  • \n

  • Skills in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, airway management, and pulmonary hygiene
  • \n

Additional Information\n

    \n
  • Responsibilities include oxygen therapy, ventilator management, airway suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene care
  • \n

  • Experience with intubation assist, chest physiotherapy, and tracheostomy care preferred
  • \n

  • Care for infants and children with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) may be required
  • \n

  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • \n

  • Free parking available
  • \n

  • Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site
  • \n

  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
  • \n

  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
  • \n

  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • \n

  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons
  • \n

  • Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
  • \n
