Job Agency: Virginia Dept of Environmental Quality
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team in Virginia. As a Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions and strategies for Virginia DEQ’s water mitigation credit marketplace.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, process, and analyze large datasets from various sources
- Develop and maintain databases and data systems
- Collaborate with Virginia DEQ stakeholders to locate and aggregate all necessary data related to water mitigation banking credits
- Organize water mitigation credit data in both a human consumable and digitally consumable form (eg a database)
- Document and collate relevant publicly available data
- Develop and implement data quality assurance procedures
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis or a similar role
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear, concise manner
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases
- Experience with GIS data
- Attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets accurately
Preferred Qualifications:
- Physically located in or near Richmond, Virginia
- Familiarity with the water mitigation credit marketplace
- Experience with statistical analysis and programming languages such as Python or R
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their applications
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience in the government sector
