Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support facilities operations at UA Tech Park in Tucson, AZ. This role focuses on servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC systems, refrigeration units, digital controls, and related building systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong HVAC troubleshooting experience, refrigeration knowledge, electrical diagnostic skills, and experience working in commercial or industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and repair HVAC and environmental control systems in commercial/industrial facilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance including cleaning, lubricating, and component inspections
- Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems and HVAC controls
- Work with digital building automation and control software
- Install, join, and repair tubing/piping using soldering, brazing, Pro-Press, and unions
- Monitor pressure/vacuum gauges and adjust controls for optimal system performance
- Inspect systems for leaks using gauges and soap/water testing methods
- Perform minor insulation repairs as needed
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including fuses, contactors, relays, and control systems
- Service large commercial air conditioning systems up to 200 tons cooling capacity
- Troubleshoot VAV systems and controls
- Support general maintenance tasks including minor electrical, plumbing, or building repairs as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must pass Jacobs and client-required background screening
- Valid Driver’s License required (driving is part of the role)
- Industrial or commercial HVAC experience required
- Experience with refrigeration and HVAC control systems
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills
- Basic computer proficiency for job-related software and applications
- Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC vocational training completion OR 5+ years of facilities maintenance experience
- Universal EPA Certification preferred
- Experience using laptops and building automation software
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and plumbing blueprints
- Experience maintaining/installing sheaves, belts, and bearings on AHUs
- Experience working on AHU motors up to 100 HP
- Ability to troubleshoot systems up to 480 volts

- Must be able to lift, climb stairs/ladders, and perform physical maintenance duties
