UBMD Internal Medicine (UBMDIM) is the academic medical practice affiliated with the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. The practice includes 135 primary and specialty care physicians and 187 staff members across 16 hospital and outpatient clinic locations, making it the largest practice plan in the UBMD Physicians’ Group. UBMDIM clinicians care for patients, teach future physicians, and participate in research to advance treatments for a wide range of diseases. Role Description:

This is a full-time, on-site Registered Dietitian/Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) role based in our WIlliamsville, NY clinic. The clinician will provide individualized medical nutrition therapy for patients with diabetes and related conditions, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and follow-up. Daily responsibilities include conducting one-on-one and group diabetes self-management education, developing and updating nutrition care plans, and supporting weight management and lifestyle modification programs. The role involves collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other care team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes. Additional duties include documenting care in the electronic health record, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and participating in patient and community education activities as needed.

Qualifications

    1. Strong foundation in Dietetics and Nutrition, with the ability to translate evidence-based guidelines into practical, patient-centered care plans.
    2. Demonstrated experience in Nutritional Counseling and Weight Management, including behavior change strategies and motivational interviewing.
    3. Proficiency in Medical Nutrition Therapy for diabetes and related metabolic conditions, including assessment, intervention, and outcome evaluation.
    4. Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential and active state licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in New York.
    5. Current Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential, or eligibility and willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
    6. Experience in outpatient or ambulatory care settings, preferably within internal medicine or endocrinology practices.
    7. Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive patient care.
    8. Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary academic medical environment and to manage a varied caseload efficiently.
