Job Title: Testing & Troubleshooting Technician
Department: Operations / Production

Reports To: Production Manager / QA Manager
Position Overview
The Testing & Troubleshooting Technician is responsible for testing, diagnosing, and validating Safe Air Technology’s mission critical and explosion proof HVAC systems prior to shipment. This role ensures each unit operates safely, meets performance requirements, and aligns with all electrical and mechanical specifications.
This position requires a strong, hands-on background in both HVAC systems and electrical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is highly skilled, detail-oriented, and capable of identifying and resolving issues quickly in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
System Testing & Validation
- Perform functional testing of HVAC units, including electrical, mechanical, and control systems
- Verify system performance against design specifications and operational requirements
- Execute start-up procedures and ensure all components are operating correctly
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Troubleshoot PLC controls, wiring, and HVAC components to identify root causes
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve defects and implement corrections
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all systems meet company quality standards and safety requirements
- Document test results, issues, and corrective actions clearly and accurately
- Support quality control processes and continuous improvement efforts
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with electrical, mechanical, and engineering teams to ensure system readiness
- Provide feedback on recurring issues to improve build quality and processes
- Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support field-related troubleshooting if needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in HVAC and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial or commercial environment
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, including compressors, coils, fans, and controls
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including reading schematics and diagnosing wiring issues
- Experience with control systems and basic PLC troubleshooting preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Experience testing or commissioning HVAC or industrial equipment
- Familiarity with explosion proof or hazardous environment systems
- Experience with meters, gauges, and diagnostic tools
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
