Job Title: Corporate Counsel – Employment, Compliance & Real Estate
Position Type: Full-Time
Location: Hybrid – North New Jersey (3–4 days in office)
About the Role
Seeking a Corporate Counsel to take ownership of employment matters, healthcare compliance, and lease management across a growing multi-location healthcare organization.
This is a hands-on role. You will work directly with leadership, handle legal matters internally, and reduce reliance on outside counsel. The focus is execution, speed, and practical problem-solving—not over-lawyering.
Core Responsibilities
Employment & HR Legal Support

Handle employee relations issues, terminations, and escalations

Support HR with policies, documentation, and compliance

Identify and address wage-and-hour risks (timekeeping, PTO, payroll)

Respond to claims, complaints, and agency inquiries
Healthcare Compliance

Support compliance across all locations

Identify gaps in processes and documentation
-
Implement practical solutions to reduce risk

Maintain alignment with regulatory requirements
Real Estate & Lease Management

Review and manage commercial leases
-
Track landlord obligations and enforce lease terms
-
Handle landlord issues (repairs, buildouts, compliance)

Support lease negotiations and renewals
Litigation & Outside Counsel Coordination

Manage smaller matters internally
-
Coordinate with outside counsel on active cases

Assist with document collection and case preparation

Reduce legal costs by minimizing unnecessary external work
Legal Operations

Track legal matters and maintain organized records
-
Support legal budgeting and spend visibility
-
Improve internal processes for handling legal issues

Qualifications
Required
-
J.D. from an accredited law school
-
Active bar admission (NY or NJ required)
-
3–7 years of relevant legal experience

Experience in employment law, compliance, or contracts

Strong organizational and execution skills

Ability to work independently
Preferred

Experience in healthcare or multi-location businesses

Experience with commercial leases

Familiarity with wage-and-hour compliance

Prior in-house or operational experience
Compensation
-
Base Salary: $110,000 – $140,000
