The Role: DevOps Engineer
At gWorks, we help local governments lead with confidence and serve their communities more effectively. Our cloud-based software powers everything from financial accounting to GIS and citizen engagement enabling public leaders to simplify complexity, modernize operations, and better serve their communities.
As a DevOps Engineer, youll play a pivotal role in building the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and automation that powers our SaaS platform. From designing zero-touch CI/CD pipelines to implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and resilient, secure cloud environments, youll help streamline development, ensure high availability, and scale systems to meet growing demands.
This is a hands-on, high-impact engineering role for someone passionate about automation, cloud architecture, and DevOps excellence.
How Youll Make an Impact
- Build a No-Touch CI/CD Pipeline
Design and maintain fully automated deployment pipelines that move code seamlessly from development to production. - Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Use Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration across multiple environments. - Deploy Scalable Environments
Automate the creation and deployment of QA, staging, production, and demo environments using best-in-class tools and principles. - Optimize Deployments with Blue/Green Strategies
Minimize downtime and risk through modern deployment patterns that ensure continuity and high availability. - Leverage AWS Native Tooling
Build secure, scalable solutions using AWS tools like ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Aurora, SQS, and CloudFront. - Ensure Resilience and Recovery
Design infrastructure that is fault-tolerant, highly available, and prepared for disaster recovery scenarios. - Advance Zero-Trust Security Models
Implement and maintain authentication and access control systems based on zero-trust principles. - Enhance Monitoring and Logging
Develop monitoring systems and dashboards using CloudWatch or ELK stack to track service health, uptime, and security. - Automate Everything
Write scripts and tools in Python, Bash, or similar languages to automate tasks, reduce manual work, and increase efficiency. - Collaborate Across Teams
Partner with Engineering, QA, and Product teams to embed DevOps best practices across the development lifecycle. - Document and Share Knowledge
Create internal documentation and lead knowledge sharing for infrastructure, automation, and deployment workflows.
What Success Looks Like
- Infrastructure uptime consistently meets or exceeds SLAs across all environments
- Deployment time is reduced significantly within the first 6 months through automation
- Zero-trust security model successfully prevents unauthorized access or breaches over a 12-month period
- Fully automated pipelines and resilient environments support faster releases with reduced friction
- Positive cross-functional collaboration and adoption of DevOps practices across the Engineering team
What Youll Bring
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years in DevOps, systems engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles
- Expertise in AWS services, including ECS/Fargate, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFormation
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tooling
- Experience with GitHub and modern code repo management practices
- Understanding of cloud networking, firewalls, routing, and VPNs
- Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK, or similar
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to collaborate across functions and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Omaha-based? Youll follow our hybrid model, working remotely with in-office collaboration on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Remote? Youll be fully supported to work from anywhere in the U.S.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary Range: $90,000- $110,000, based on experience
