Collections/Foreclosure Paralegal

Supports attorneys with substantive legal work while ensuring compliance with FDCPA and applicable Florida laws (Condominium Act, Cooperative Act, HOA Act, and related statutes).


Key Responsibilities

Association Matters

  • Communicate with delinquent owners via phone, email, and written notices
  • Process payments; prepare balances, payoff letters, and estoppels
  • Review pre-collection files (ledgers, notices, supporting docs)
  • Draft lien/foreclosure notices, liens, and complaint packages
  • Prepare foreclosure pleadings, stipulations, and related court filings
  • Draft motions for summary judgment, affidavits (indebtedness, costs, fees)
  • Prepare notices of hearing and final judgments, including notices of sale
  • Organize hearing binders for attorneys
  • Coordinate tasks with support staff as needed

Bank / Loan Matters

  • Run mortgage and satisfaction searches
  • Draft answers and affirmative defenses
  • Prepare case management motions, trial notices, and sale rescheduling motions
  • Draft notices of hearing

Bankruptcy Matters

  • Prepare notices of appearance and service
  • Compile proof of claim exhibits
  • Update post-petition amount notices

Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication & customer service
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, deadline-driven
  • Able to multitask in fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s preferred
  • 2+ years paralegal experience in collections, foreclosures, or HOA
