Collections/Foreclosure Paralegal
Supports attorneys with substantive legal work while ensuring compliance with FDCPA and applicable Florida laws (Condominium Act, Cooperative Act, HOA Act, and related statutes).
Key Responsibilities
Association Matters
- Communicate with delinquent owners via phone, email, and written notices
- Process payments; prepare balances, payoff letters, and estoppels
- Review pre-collection files (ledgers, notices, supporting docs)
- Draft lien/foreclosure notices, liens, and complaint packages
- Prepare foreclosure pleadings, stipulations, and related court filings
- Draft motions for summary judgment, affidavits (indebtedness, costs, fees)
- Prepare notices of hearing and final judgments, including notices of sale
- Organize hearing binders for attorneys
- Coordinate tasks with support staff as needed
Bank / Loan Matters
- Run mortgage and satisfaction searches
- Draft answers and affirmative defenses
- Prepare case management motions, trial notices, and sale rescheduling motions
- Draft notices of hearing
Bankruptcy Matters
- Prepare notices of appearance and service
- Compile proof of claim exhibits
- Update post-petition amount notices
Skills
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication & customer service
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, deadline-driven
- Able to multitask in fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s preferred
- 2+ years paralegal experience in collections, foreclosures, or HOA
