The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead and oversee diverse technology initiatives aimed at enhancing national highway safety through innovative software solutions. This role demands strong expertise in agile software development, exemplary leadership, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage IT projects from initiation through closure, ensuring alignment with NHTSA’s strategic objectives.
- Utilize Agile methodologies to facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure project outcomes meet user expectations and regulations.
- Oversee the project intake process by evaluating proposals, assessing feasibility, and prioritizing initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate risks, developing contingency plans throughout the project lifecycle.
- Integrate automation and artificial intelligence tools to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to management and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to promote continuous improvement in project management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Scrum Master certification.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in IT project management with a focus on software development.
- Proven experience applying Agile methodologies and frameworks.
- Familiarity with automation tools and AI applications in project management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for onsite collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Experience working in a government environment.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of IT project management experience.
- Bachelor's degree specifically in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
