Job Description

As a head coach for SCAD cycling, you’ll prepare talented student-athletes for competition in road, track, cyclocross, and mountain biking. Overall, you’ll train and analyze each cyclist’s performance to help them reach their full potential as a SCAD Bee!

As a head coach, you will:

\n

    \n
  • Engage in successful community relations across university, city, state, and national communities to build a positive opinion of SCAD Athletics and SCAD cycling
  • \n

  • Train student-athletes and enhance their cycling knowledge
  • \n

  • Communicate with students, parents, and physicians to determine student-athletes’ eligibility or ineligibility
  • \n

  • Establish specific procedures for handling injuries and emergencies
  • \n

  • Recruit student-athletes for both the women’s and men’s teams
  • \n

\n

Additionally, you will:

\n

    \n
  • Establish practice and tournament schedules
  • \n

  • Provide complete and detailed itineraries for tournament trips
  • \n

  • Monitor midterm and final grades of each student-athlete
  • \n

  • Procure essential uniforms, gear, and equipment
  • \n

\n

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • \n

  • Strong organizational skills
  • \n

  • Discipline, honesty, and integrity while handling multiple priorities
  • \n

\n

Minimum qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • \n

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite, specifically Word and Excel
  • \n

\n

Preferred qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • At least one year of experience in an academic environment
  • \n

\n

Travel required:

\n

    \n
  • 20–40%
  • \n

\n

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
