The Role

Responsible for the execution of various tasks as directed by the engineering staff. This will include validating designs, building prototypes, test jigs, evaluating component selections, maintenance of the test instrumentation calibration program, testing and validation of engineering change orders. Managing engineering materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with and supporting Mechanical/Electrical Engineers for the design and prototype of cell and battery related products
  • Hand assembly of prototype packs to include electronics and mechanical components.
  • Fabrication of test and assembly of prototype jigs/fixtures.
  • The safe and efficient use of shop tools.
  • Submitting written input to Engineering Documents such as may be required to support design efforts, prototyping, and laboratory organization, etc.
  • Knowledge of hand assembly and measuring tools required.
  • Organize and maintain engineering stock inventory; includes order processing and receipt of material.
  • Ensure all instrumentation is maintained in the proper state of calibration.
  • Comply and make recommendations to enhance the Quality Assurance program.
  • Extract and understand information from schematic, mechanical, and assembly drawings.
  • Collection, analysis, presentation of test results.
  • Minimal travel maybe required to support customer visits.
  • Perform detailed mechanical/electrical level assembly for the purpose of prototyping electro-mechanical designs and providing analysis of performance to the responsible engineer(s).

What You Bring:

  • Associate (2-year) degree in Engineering Technology or 5 years hands on experience.
  • Knowledge in welding techniques, resistance, laser and ultrasonics.
  • Extracting and understanding information from schematic, mechanical, and assembly drawings.
  • Must have the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Employing test equipment such hand rules, multimeters, measuring calipers etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of electromechanical designs
  • Strong knowledge as a user of Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Must have strong communication skills; oral and written.
  • High level of initiative and strong work ethic.
