Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Engineering Technician will be responsible for operating test benches in the R&D engineering lab, conducting various tests, troubleshooting test apparatus, and documenting results. The role involves maintaining mechanical test equipment, calibrating tests, and participating in the development of new technology and product modifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain test benches and lab equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct structural, integrity, end-of-life, and efficiency tests.
  • Consult with test requestor and/or lab manager to determine appropriate testing methods.
  • Set up and conduct performance tests using standardized formats and procedures.
  • Identify and communicate test equipment issues to lead technicians or supervisors.
  • Assist with equipment calibration and perform basic test bench maintenance.
  • Conduct specialized testing without written procedures.
  • Fabricate components and assemblies for hydraulic, diesel engine, and alternative power products.
  • Build prototypes and retrofit vehicles with products and data acquisition systems.
  • Troubleshoot test bench circuits, field equipment systems, and components.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Effectively communicate technical information.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude and testing experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and software literacy.
  • Experience with Labview and troubleshooting.
  • Engineering and automotive manufacturing knowledge.
  • Understanding of hydraulics, hydraulic assembly, and valves.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Fabrication experience in multiple disciplines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of test equipment and standards.
  • Technical experience in fluid handling, filtration, or diesel engines.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills.
  • Understanding data logging equipment, dosing systems, and injector characterization stations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with creative and inquisitive nature.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Work Environment

The work environment is focused on the durability and efficiency of filters for liquid applications, such as diesel fuel. The role requires mechanical testing and upkeep of test benches. The shift is Monday – Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The dress code is engineering casual with a collared shirt, and personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and safety glasses are required in labs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
