Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Reports To: Vice President

Location: Winston-Salem, NC

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Exempt


This position is on-site and has typical work hours Monday – Friday from 8:00AM – 5:00PM


Job Summary:

The Human Resources Manager reports to the Vice President and is responsible for managing the Human Resources department. The position interacts employees and managers at the corporate and branch level, helping to ensure departments are properly staffed with qualified employees in positions to do rewarding work, that will contribute to the success of the company. The position leads the company’s Culture related initiatives, with the support of executive leadership. The HR manager works closely with the Vice President on all compensation issues, advises senior management on legal issues related to HR policies and related claims. The position manages and advises the leadership team on company benefit plans.


Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Provides overall leadership and guidance to the Human Resources function by overseeing talent acquisitions, retention, training, leadership, development, compensation, and benefits.
  • Establishes and implements Human Resources efforts that effectively communicate and support the desired culture and overall work environment for Parrish Tire.
  • Works closely with the Vice President to develop Human Resources plans and strategies to support and achieve the overall business operations and objectives.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management; manages recruiting for leadership and corporate staffing, negotiating salaries in coordination with hiring manager; manages recruiting for wholesale, retail, and commercial location staffing, utilizing temporary agencies and other recruiting resources as necessary.
  • Serves as benefits administrator – structuring companies benefit package. Works with leadership to ensure benefit package aligns with budgetary goals.
  • Manages and review job descriptions with leadership and management team; review for necessary changes and updates; Review market salary and analyze organizational trends, ensuring appropriate adjustments are completed.
  • Coordinates the performance review process, ensuring reviews reflect performance, and properly identify issues to be addressed.
  • Performs internal investigations as it relates to disciplinary matters, disputes, harassment, grievances, etc.
  • Counsels and provide advice to management and supervisors related to employee related issues, disciplinary actions, terminations.
  • Addresses employee concerns such as grievances, complaints, questions.
  • Collaborates with managers to provide ongoing training and employee development.
  • Ensures Parrish Tire follows federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and updates company policies to ensure compliance.
  • Serves as a key member of the Safety Committee and collaborate with Leadership Team, Plant and Retail Management to ensure all safety training and safety requirements are met.
  • Manages Workers Compensation claims, reporting and audits.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Manages and administers:
    • Manage and update employee-related payroll records (changes to title, salary, etc)
    • New employee onboarding and benefits enrollment; annual benefits enrollment.
    • 401k distribution, loan approvals, and employee changes
    • Management of FMLA, STD and LTD request
    • Update and maintain personnel/employee records
  • Any other duties assigned by the Vice President


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Proven experience in Human Resources at the manager or generalist level
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, certification a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related Office applications
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and negotiation skills
  • Excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem – solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of an organization and employees

Required Physical Abilities:

Physical requirements of this position may require a range of activities. These can include, but are not limited to:

  • Lifting and carrying – the ability to lift and transport objects of specified weights, which may vary by job. For example, a job may require lifting up 25-50lbs.
  • Standing and walking – this position will require standing and walking for periods of time
  • Bending and stooping – bending, stooping, or crouching are requiring to effectively preform essential duties of this position.
  • Reaching and pushing/pulling – the ability to reach for items, push carts, or pull equipment will be necessary for daily activities.
  • Sitting – there will be times this position will be needed to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • This position will also be required to operate certain machinery and other equipment safely.


Work Environment:

This position will require employees to work in certain weather conditions, such as heat, cold, as well as potentially confined spaces.
