POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Life Supervisor (CLS) is a full-time, non-exempt position of Denver Rescue Mission (DRM). The purpose of the CLS position is to provide direct oversight of the Community Life Coordinator (CLC) and facilities located in Northern Colorado which currently include Fort Colins Rescue Mission and Harvest Farm. The shifts may vary due to facility needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations and Administrative Duties?
- (Shelter sites only) ensures all necessary supplies are stocked to support daily operations, this includes cleaning supplies, linens, towels, mats, mattresses, and furniture.
- Coordinates with the DRM Maintenance Department to address facility maintenance issues promptly and effectively.
- Reviews and approves timecards for all CLC staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Serves as the facility’s designated Safety Coordinator or assigns an appropriate team member. Participates in DRM’s Safety Council and collaborates with Operations staff from other sites to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Ensures daily guest statistics are entered accurately into both SCRIBE and Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS).
- (Winter Seasonal Overflow Shelter) Oversees the setup, daily operations, and closure of the winter shelter location. This includes collaborating with People & Culture to hire, onboard, and train CLC staff, as well as ensuring full compliance with city regulations related to shelter operations and guest safety.
Harvest Farm–Specific Responsibilities:
- Regularly observes and documents medication administration to ensure compliance with prescribed schedules.
- Verifies that each individual receives the correct medication, in the appropriate dose, via the correct method, and at the right time.
- Works in collaboration with Harvest Farm Program Manager to ensure a cohesive working environment between program staff and CLCs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and operations of the facility.
Safety and Cleanliness
- Supports and guides the CLC team in the consistent use of de-escalation techniques when addressing challenging guest behavior. Regularly tracks staff participation in Decoding Conflict training to ensure readiness and growth in this area.
- Ensures that CLCs appropriately oversee guests exiting the facility, maintaining adherence to neighborhood agreements and applying the “Asked to Leave” protocol when necessary.
- Maintains a strong understanding of and commitment to organizational policies and procedures, ensuring they are followed consistently across all facilities and services.
- Oversees cleanliness and order throughout facility interiors—including common areas, meeting rooms, hallways, restrooms, and offices—by ensuring personal belongings are removed, trash is disposed of, and regular cleaning schedules are followed.
- (Shelter sites only) Monitors the perimeter of shelter facilities to discourage loitering, encampments, and other disruptions, within legal limits. Reports any campsite concerns to the Hope Team for follow-up.
- (Shelter sites only) Ensures clean bedding and towels are consistently available for guest use, maintaining high standards of hygiene and dignity.
Supervision of Staff
- Provides direct supervision and support to CLC staff across all facilities during assigned shift. Communicates any concerns or issues promptly to the Director.
- In collaboration with the Director and People & Culture, assists in hiring and onboarding new staff. Ensures new team members receive thorough training and a welcoming introduction to their roles.
- Creates and manages staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all facilities during assigned shifts. Provides direct operational support as needed to ensure program continuity and guest safety.
- Conducts regular one-on-one check-ins with CLC staff to support their job performance, provide guidance, and encourage their professional growth.
- Completes 90-day and annual performance evaluations for team members. Addresses any performance concerns using the Progressive Disciplinary process, in coordination with the Director and People & Culture.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor of Arts in Business, Education, or a related field—or equivalent work experience, such as a supervisory role within shelter services, human services, or social services—that demonstrates strong leadership and interpersonal skills may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) certification is preferred, or willingness to become certified within 60 days of hire.
- Prior experience in a related field is preferred, with a heart for service and growth.
- Experience leading people and managing processes is a plus, especially when marked by compassion and integrity.
- A committed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, affirming the organization’s Statement of Faith through testimony and lifestyle.
- Demonstrated ability to support, develop, and lead team members with empathy and clarity in their assigned roles.
- Brings a team-first mindset, with a collaborative spirit and a genuine desire to support others.
- Willingness to graciously accept and carry out additional responsibilities as needed, with a servant-hearted approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, grounded in humility and a desire to understand others.
- Adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to prioritize well and remain flexible in changing circumstances.

- Able to maintain healthy boundaries while engaging with staff and program participants/guests with dignity and respect.
- Able to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of hire date.
- Understands the unique challenges and opportunities of working in emergency/support services and with vulnerable populations.
- Possesses a genuine heart for ministry to individuals experiencing poverty or homelessness.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Holds a current, valid Colorado Driver’s License and is willing to authorize a motor vehicle record check. Must meet insurability requirements under the organization’s driving standards.
