Our client, a leading designer and manufacturer of expeditionary fuel and water pumps and distribution systems, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their growing team. We are assisting in identifying a technically skilled and hands-on engineering professional who can lead complex projects from concept through production. The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading complex engineering projects from concept through production, ensuring that all designs meet functional, performance, and quality requirements. This role combines hands-on technical design with project management oversight. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical or systems engineering experience, expertise in fluid handling or pumping systems, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration between design, manufacturing, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and testing of fuel and water pumping and distribution systems.

Manage all phases of the project lifecycle—concept development, prototyping, testing, and production release.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and technical documentation.

Collaborate closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to optimize designs for production and cost efficiency.

Oversee prototype builds, conduct performance testing, and drive validation activities.

Troubleshoot design and production issues, implementing effective engineering solutions.

Prepare and review engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and management.

Mentor and support junior engineers in design and project management best practices.

Support continuous improvement initiatives in product design and engineering processes.
Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:

7+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years leading projects or teams.

Strong background in pumps, fluid systems, or mechanical assemblies for industrial or field applications.

Experience managing projects involving both design and manufacturing deliverables.

Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software; experience with PDM systems preferred.

Familiarity with fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly processes.

Demonstrated success in bringing new products from concept to production.

Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental standards (e.g., UL, CE, ISO).
