At Heritage Place Care and Rehab, the Transporter plays a vital role in ensuring our residents reach their destinations safely, comfortably, and on time. In this role, you will provide routine daily transportation services in strict accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, as well as our internal facility guidelines. Working under the direction of the Facility Administrator, your primary goal is to maintain a safe, secure, and hospitable transport service for everyone in our care.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Resident Escort: Safely accompany and transport residents to appointments, activities, and external medical facilities.

  • Detail Verification: Confirm resident identities, destinations, departure times, and specific travel requirements using verbal or written itineraries.

  • Mobility Assistance: Help ambulatory residents walk safely to mitigate fall risks, and expertly maneuver wheelchairs for non-ambulatory residents.

  • Vehicle Stewardship: Maintain the cleanliness (interior and exterior) of company vehicles, conduct routine inspections, report mechanical issues immediately, and coordinate scheduled maintenance.

  • Dignity & Privacy: Ensure all resident interactions and care details are handled with the utmost privacy and respect.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Licensure: Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a comprehensive driving record and background check.

  • Certified Nursing Aid: Licensure strongly preferred

  • Physical Ability: Able to stay active and move intermittently throughout the course of the workday.

  • Professionalism: Proven ability to work independently with high personal integrity, flexibility, and a collaborative attitude toward residents, staff, and external agencies.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills; must be able to read, write, and speak clearly to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment (including residents, families, and medical staff).
