Job Title: Data Manager / Visualization Lead
Location: Remote (close to Alexandria preferred)
Clearance: Ability to Obtain Public Trust Clearance (which requires U.S. Citizenship)
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $140,000 - $150,000
Position Overview
We are seeking a Data Manager / Visualization Lead to support a federal agency’s Digital Transformation and Data Services program. This role will lead enterprise-wide data management, analytics, and visualization initiatives to enhance the agency’s ability to make informed, data-driven decisions. The Data Manager will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of data—from ingestion and curation to visualization and reporting—ensuring consistency, accuracy, and accessibility across mission systems.
This position requires a strategic leader who combines deep technical expertise in data management and visualization with an understanding of federal data governance, analytics strategy, and performance management. The candidate will play a critical role in translating complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for agency leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management & Governance
- Develop and implement enterprise data management strategies that align with the agency’s data governance framework and mission priorities.
- Manage metadata, data lineage, and data dictionaries to support interoperability and transparency across data domains.
- Oversee data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, and corrective action processes to maintain trusted data sources.
- Collaborate with Data Stewards, Engineers, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to FISMA, FedRAMP, and RMF standards.
Visualization & Decision Support
- Lead the design and delivery of dashboards, scorecards, and visual analytics solutions using Qlik, Power BI, or comparable platforms.
- Define and track performance metrics and KPIs that align with mission outcomes and strategic objectives.
- Ensure visualizations and reports comply with Section 508 accessibility and Responsible AI design principles.
- Translate analytical results into executive-level insights and decision support tools.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with cross-functional technical and mission teams to operationalize visualization capabilities within data pipelines.
- Mentor data professionals and support the adoption of enterprise visualization tools and analytic best practices.
- Develop and deliver training, reference materials, and governance documentation to strengthen organizational data literacy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data management, visualization, or analytics leadership roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in data visualization platforms (Qlik, Power BI, Tableau) and data preparation languages (SQL, Python).
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data governance, and federal data compliance (FISMA, FedRAMP).
- Proven ability to communicate complex data findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Eligibility for Public Trust clearance which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal agencies or large-scale data transformation programs, especially clients such as Army, Air Force, or United States Coast Guard.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Collibra, Enlighten BDP, and cloud analytics ecosystems (AWS/Azure).
- Certification in Qlik Sense, Power BI, or related data visualization platforms.
- Experience integrating AI/ML analytics outputs into visualization frameworks.
