Position Summary: The Facilities Custodian works closely with Facility team members to ensure all aspects of safety and cleanliness in the building are met. This role has great impact on the experience of our guests and all department team members.
This part-time position is scheduled Saturday through Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with potential variation based on operational needs, including special events and facility rentals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean all areas of the Museum: restrooms, floors, windows, exhibits and trash removal
- Quickly respond to the needs of guests and all department team members
- Determine and address safety concerns
- Prepare for special events, facility rentals and internal meetings including, but not limited to room set-up and teardown
- Assist with training new hires & cafe closing procedures
- Prioritize customer service and assist guests while in public areas of the museum
- Perform other department related duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:
- Ability to be an effective team member and maintain a positive relationship with Museum guests and staff
- Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines
- High level of accountability, punctuality and dependability
- Ability to manage time, prioritize responsibilities and problem solve when needed
Physical Qualification:
- Walk, crouch, bend and move continuously throughout the day
- Stand and walk for extended periods while performing cleaning
- Navigate tight and confined spaces, such as mechanical rooms or crawl spaces and ability to climb ladders
- Lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and push, pull, or maneuver heavy tools, equipment and materials
- Safely transport supplies across a variety of terrains and surfaces
- Work in a range of temperatures, including outdoor and non-climate controlled areas
- Tolerate exposure to dust, dirt, and other airborne particles
- Use standard building maintenance chemicals safely and regularly
