Process Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a results-oriented Process Engineer to drive productivity improvements, reduce waste, and implement Lean Manufacturing principles across our production operations. The successful candidate will lead process optimization projects, develop and maintain standard operating procedures, support new product introductions and equipment installations, and deliver measurable improvements to key performance indicators (KPIs). This role requires hands-on problem solving, strong data analysis skills, and the ability to collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity gains, waste reduction, and process stability using Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies.
- Analyze production data and process performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and track progress against KPIs.
- Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials to ensure consistent execution on the shop floor.
- Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality and process issues.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by defining manufacturing processes, performing capacity and capability assessments, and participating in pilot runs.
- Plan and oversee equipment installation, start-up, and qualification activities in collaboration with maintenance and suppliers.
- Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving sessions with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to implement robust process controls.
- Design and lead projects aimed at reducing cycle time, scrap, rework, and other forms of waste while improving throughput and yield.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, prepare regular progress updates, and present recommendations to operations leadership.
- Support safety and compliance initiatives by ensuring processes meet regulatory and internal quality standards and by integrating safety into process design.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
- 2+ years experience as a Process Engineer or similar role in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated success improving productivity and reducing waste.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to address quality and process failures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and support New Product Introduction activities.
- Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience working with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and using data to drive decisions; familiarity with manufacturing metrics.
- Six Sigma training or certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.
- Nice to have: Extrusion or Fabrication processes, and Electrical Conduit installations.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; experience with process simulation or statistical software is a plus.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills with the ability to influence across functions and lead cross-functional teams.
