Tech savvy, you can work well with Microsoft's full suite of products including Office 365, Teams and SharePoint as well as a wide variety of other software products.

Job Summary and Mission

This position contributes to the success of CuliNEX by providing test kitchen support (specifically, meticulously preparing food samples and recording data) which is essential for the swift delivery of project results. The Test Kitchen Technician will report to the Product Development Manager.

The Technician must exhibit CuliNex Core Competencies and adhere to Core Values.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparing food samples following detailed written instructions

  • Recording data including visual observations and instrument readings

  • Using laboratory tools such as cameras, meters, and sensing devices

  • Manipulating images

  • Organizing computer files

  • Preparing power point slides

  • Planning their daily work approach to ensure efficient and timely delivery of results

  • Keeping work areas clean and organized

  • Performing cleaning, organization, and general kitchen up-keep tasks

  • Tracking inventory levels and ordering supplies

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma preferred

  • Test Kitchen, Quality Assurance, or Laboratory experience required

  • Bakery or food experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point.

  • Proven ability to follow detailed written work instructions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality handling sensitive information.

Physical Work Abilities and Requirements:

  • Mobility: This position may be required to move around the kitchen environment to perform various job duties, such as preparing samples, testing food, documenting results, and cleaning workspace.

  • Dexterity: The position involves the use of kitchen and lab tools, computers, cameras, and other office and kitchen equipment, requiring the ability to manipulate small objects and perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.

  • Visual Acuity: This position must have sufficient vision to evaluate small details of food samples, read documents, view computer screens, and operate office equipment effectively. Ability to distinguish subtle color variations in products (e.g., food, dyes) to ensure compliance with specific quality standards and specifications.

  • Hearing: The ability to hear and understand verbal communication is essential for effective interaction with colleagues, supervisors, and external parties.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for conveying information, responding to inquiries, and providing excellent customer service.

  • Sitting/Standing: This position may be required to sit or stand for extended periods while performing job duties.

  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying of light to moderate objects, such as files, supplies, or equipment, may be required.

  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to perform tasks that require precise finger and hand movements, such as preparing food samples, typing, writing, and operating office machinery, is essential.
