POSITION SUMMARY
The Business/Data Analyst serves as BES’s primary resource for transforming operational data into actionable business intelligence. This role owns the full analytics lifecycle — from raw data in our ERP, WMS, and MSSQL and AWS Red Shift data warehouse systems through dashboards, executive reports, and AI-assisted insights that drive decisions across sales, operations, and logistics.
This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role. While reporting to the Director of IT for technical alignment and systems access, the analyst works in close partnership with the officer team and business leaders to define priorities, surface key trends, and communicate findings in a way that drives timely, informed decisions. The right candidate combines deep technical skill with sharp business acumen and a genuine curiosity for what the data is telling us.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Analytics & Reporting
• Gather business requirements from stakeholders and translate them into clearly defined, actionable deliverables.
• Analyze currently available and potentially accessible data to determine the most accurate source of information including, but not limited to, Prophet 21, Warehouse Management System, SQL Server and AWS Red Shift based data warehouse.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reports that give leadership clear visibility into business performance. Translate complex findings into plain-language narratives and visualizations appropriate for executive audiences.
Data Management & Systems
• Maintains and enhances the data warehouse through importing, cleaning, transforming, validating, and modeling data in AWS Quick Suite, IBM Cognos, and Microsoft Reporting Services.
• Develop and optimize MS SQL queries to support analysis, troubleshooting, and data correction.
• Proactively monitor data quality and flag discrepancies before they impact reporting or decision-making.
AI & Innovation
• Identify, evaluate, and pilot AI tools that can automate recurring reporting tasks, accelerate analysis, or surface predictive insights.
• Leverage AI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude, Codex, others as needed) as part of day-to-day analytical workflows to improve speed and output quality.
• Serve as an internal resource and advocate for responsible AI adoption in data and reporting functions.
Collaboration & Project Management
• Maintain EDI system for data transmission and connection with our vendors and customers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and technology, including identifying where automation can reduce manual effort. Propose solutions and present findings to individuals or teams at all levels of the organization.
• Manage data and analytics projects from initial request through delivery and post-implementation support.
• Support IT department functions including customer support and other tasks as assigned.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Technical Skills
• Advanced proficiency writing SQL queries for data analysis, transformation, and correction.
• Solid technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Familiarity with ERP data structures; Prophet 21 (P21) experience is a significant advantage.
• Have experience with AWS Quick Suite and AWS in general, IBM Cognos experience a plus, WebPresented CRM a plus.
• Working knowledge of AI/LLM and automation tools used in analytical contexts (Claude, Codex, LLMs, Python with pandas, or similar).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balance competing priorities, and meet commitments.
• Strong judgment and initiative; comfortable working independently as well as within cross-functional teams.
• Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when working with sensitive business data.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR
• 5+ years of directly relevant experience in a business analyst or data analyst role; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.
