We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Childcare Center Director who’s passionate about early childhood and school-aged education, nurturing young minds, and helping families thrive in a vibrant, multi-generational community!
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the childcare center.
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate teaching and support staff to ensure high-quality care and education.
- Monitor regulatory compliance with all local and state licensing agencies.
- Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers through ongoing communication, support, and engagement.
- Partner with outreach and communications teams to promote enrollment and awareness.
- Manage budgeting, purchasing, and center resources to ensure fiscal health.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and well-equipped facility.
- Step into classrooms to support instruction and continuity of care when needed.
- Assist families with applications for the Child Care Assistance Program and other resources.
- Collaborate with senior services and intergenerational programs to support a cohesive community vision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (including or in addition to 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field), plus 1 year teaching and 1 year staff supervision experience.
- NY State Children’s Program Administrator Credential, plus 1 year teaching and 1 year supervisory experience.
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood or related field (with a plan to pursue a bachelor’s or credential), plus 2 years teaching and 2 years staff supervision experience.
- Child Development Associate Credential or equivalent (with a study plan for further qualifications), plus 2 years teaching and 2 years staff supervision experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite ( Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Working Conditions
- Ability to engage in active classroom settings and lift up to 25–40 lbs
- Regular use of computers and communication tools
- Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for events or meetings
- Role is primarily on-site at the community center; limited local travel may be required
