Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role involves providing top-tier support to attorneys and legal staff in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on commercial litigation defense. Responsibilities:
• Prepare, proofread, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and engagement agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct e-filing for federal, state, and local courts while adhering to respective court rules and deadlines.
• Assist with discovery processes, including document collection, deposition preparation, and generating privilege logs.
• Organize trial materials such as trial notebooks, calendars, indexes, and chronologies to support attorneys during litigation.
• Coordinate and schedule client meetings, depositions, court hearings, and trials, both virtually and in-person.
• Arrange travel accommodations for attorneys and legal staff when required.
• Collaborate with firm leadership, associates, and staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Work with the accounting department on conflict checks, new matter forms, and billing reviews.
• Maintain and organize legal records using electronic databases like iManage and ShareFile.
• Stay updated on court rules and procedures, ensuring compliance and timely submissions.• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal secretary, with a focus on commercial litigation defense.
• Familiarity with insurance defense litigation is highly preferred.
• Proficient in e-filing processes and legal software platforms such as iManage and ShareFile.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to grammar and punctuation.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude with a focus on precision and reliability.
