Job DescriptionA well-established grower-owned processor in the food manufacturing sector is hiring for Maintenance Mechanics in their Fleetwood, PA facility.
These openings are for 1st shift (6am-2:30 pm)
The Maintenance Mechanic will work under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment. This position involves a combination of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and mechanical support for production lines. This is a hands-on role, ideal for mechanically inclined professionals looking to work in a team-oriented setting with minimal supervision
Key Responsibilities:
-Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair production and plant equipment with minimal supervision, ensuring timely resolution of malfunctions and breakdowns.
-Perform machinery changeovers, setups, and routine maintenance according to schedules and protocols.
-Install, relocate, and modify equipment per engineering drawings and work instructions.
-Support machine operation by providing break relief and operational assistance as needed.
-Execute preventive maintenance procedures and accurately report completed PM tasks.
-Fabricate, assemble, and install components using various tools, including grinders, shears, welders, saws, and drill presses.
-Assist in the training of newer maintenance staff and equipment operators.
-Collaborate with electricians during installations and modifications of plant equipment.
-Maintain shop and plant cleanliness through the use of CIP systems and related equipment.
-Operate a forklift to transport materials and ensure job readiness with required tools and parts.
-Monitor spare part inventory and communicate needs to the Parts Department
Key Requirements:
-Ability to read and interpret mechanical and engineering documents or schematics.
-Capable of independently performing troubleshooting, diagnosis, and mechanical repairs.
-Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
-Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
Key Qualifications:
-Prior experience in a mechanical maintenance role in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
-Comfortable working second shift with the physical capability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and 70 lbs. occasionally.
-Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
-Familiarity with computer-based maintenance tracking systems and experience with PLCs preferred.
-Welding and fabrication experience strongly preferred.
