Position Overview:
Reporting to AlphaGen’s General Counsel, the Sr. Contracts Administrator is responsible for leveraging their experience to assist with the review, redlining, and negotiation of legal and financial terms in wholesale energy trading contracts and , confirmations, and ancillary agreements and maintain responsibility for handling all stages of the contract process from initial drafting to execution, serving as the primary liaison between Commercial, Legal, Credit, and Risk Management, and the key point of contact with counterparties.

Role and Key Responsibilities:

  • Redline and negotiate and process commodity agreements, including but not limited to: first lien and traditional 2002 ISDA Master Agreements, EEI Master Power Purchase and Sale Agreements, NAESB Base Contracts, Guarantees, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Long Form Confirmations, and Broker Agreements. Supports legal, credit and commercial teams in handling transactional matters including initial contract review and comments including redlining, editing, formatting and proofreading documents through document execution, filing, and post-execution administrative obligations.
  • Coordinate with in-house and outside counsel to ensure contract terms comply with Company policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and commercial strategy.
  • Ensure data relating to executed agreements are input into ETRM and executed agreements are scanned and attached accordingly.
  • Maintain the corporate library of contract templates and manage updates as needed.
    Maintain contract data in company systems and directories as well as hard copy files per record retention policies.
  • Manage transaction confirmation process including matching broker, counterparty, and exchange confirmations with internal data, creating confirmations, and entering documents in ETRM within policy prescribed timelines.
  • Manage internal KYC processes and responses to third party requirements.

Professional and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s 10+ years in bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Experience in contract review to ensure proper interpretation, tracking and implementation of key terms and conditions of contracts.
  • 10 years contract administration or negotiation demonstrating proficiency in energy (power) industry agreements and contractual legal and credit provisions.
  • Experience managing workflow of trading contract negotiations.
  • Solid understanding of commercial energy activities and proficiency with Energy Trading Risk Management Systems.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment for a growth company with frequent changes in priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proactive working style, continually seeking to develop and improve processes with strong attention to detail.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization in a positive, collaborative manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including familiarity with common legal terminology.
