We are looking for an Accountant to support a defense software organization in Honolulu, Hawaii through a Contract assignment. This position will handle core accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to timely reporting across payables, receivables, payroll, and general ledger activities. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on accounting experience, works comfortably with accounting systems and spreadsheets, and can operate effectively in a structured, compliance-driven environment. Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general ledger maintenance.

• Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.

• Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet items to support complete and reliable month-end close processes.

• Process payroll for a workforce of fewer than 100 employees and help maintain accurate payroll records.

• Produce monthly financial reports and assist with routine reviews of accounting data for accuracy and completeness.

• Support excise tax tracking, invoicing, and other operational accounting tasks tied to ongoing business needs.

• Maintain accounting records in systems such as QuickBooks Desktop and assist with payroll administration tools when needed.

• Contribute to accounting activities within a government contracting environment, including work aligned with defense-related financial practices when applicable.

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least five years of broad accounting experience covering core financial operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly reporting.
• Familiarity with payroll processing and bookkeeping responsibilities; experience in a government contracting setting is a plus.
• Experience using QuickBooks Pro or QuickBooks Desktop is strongly preferred.
• Exposure to Ceridian or similar payroll software is desirable.
• Knowledge of Department of Defense accounting practices and government compliance requirements is preferred.
