Direct Counsel is partnering with a well-established, results-driven employment law practice in California to identify a Legal Secretary / Paralegal with strong employment litigation experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated litigation professional who enjoys hands-on case involvement and working closely with attorneys on complex employment matters.
Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and editing legal documents, including complaints, motions, discovery requests and responses, and demand letters related to employment law matters

Conducting legal and factual research to support case strategy and development

Assisting attorneys with preparation for depositions, mediations, and hearings

Organizing and maintaining case files, exhibits, and litigation evidence

Preparing case summaries, timelines, and document indexes

Communicating with clients to gather information, draft declarations, and support litigation needs

Electronically file documents in California state and federal courts

Managing litigation calendars and track deadlines for filings, discovery, and court appearances

Coordinating depositions, mediations, court appearances, and client meetings

Serving as a primary point of contact with court staff, opposing counsel, clients, and vendors

Ensuring compliance with applicable court rules and procedures
Qualifications:

3–5+ years of litigation support experience, with a strong preference for employment law

Working knowledge of California and federal court rules and procedures
-
Strong drafting skills, particularly with motions and discovery
-
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines

Proficiency with legal practice management software (e.g., FileVine, Clio) and Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to work in a hybrid role based in Beverly Hills
