Job Title: Facilities Supervisor

Position Overview
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and carrying out the maintenance, repair, and operation of the transit agency’s buildings, grounds, bus stops, shelters, signage, and related infrastructure. This position ensures all facilities are safe, clean, fully functional, and compliant with applicable codes and regulations. The Facilities Supervisor leads maintenance staff and contractors, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance, and supports capital improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
The following is a representative list of essential duties and responsibilities and is not intended to be comprehensive.
· Oversee and carry out daily facility maintenance activities, including integrated building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, janitorial services and structural repairs.
· Oversee and carry out the upkeep and repair of bus stops, shelters, signage, lighting, and parking areas.
· Respond to and resolve facility-related emergencies and service requests within established deadlines.
·Supervise, train, and evaluate facilities maintenance staff.
· Assign and carry out work orders, set task priorities, and ensure work meets safety and quality standards. Coordinate with, and monitor, contractors performing specialized facility work.
· Assist to develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all facilities and infrastructure.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local building codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental standards.
· Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and functionality tests of facilities and public areas.
· Maintain accurate documentation for compliance, inspections and maintenance records.
· Review reports and monitor resource usage to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
· Assist in the development and management of the facilities maintenance budget.
· Develop and process departmental procurements according to policies and procedures.
· Maintain accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and materials; ensure adequate stock levels and coordinate replenishment as needed.
· Coordinate facility repairs and improvements to minimize operational disruption.
· Warranty management.
· Facilitate parts and maintenance vendor accounts and contract management.
· Facilitate permitting and easement agreements as needed for infrastructure additions or improvements.
· Support the planning and execution of capital improvement and construction projects.
· Provide technical input on the design and construction of new or renovated facilities and infrastructure.
Relationships
The Facilities Supervisor is directly supervised by the Maintenance Manager. This position supervises the Facility Maintenance Technician.
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
· 2 to 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, construction, or related field is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of integrated building systems, facility maintenance practices, and safety/regulatory compliance.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
· Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
· Relevant trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) preferred.
· Supervisory experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
· Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn other agency software systems.
· Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels, including frontline employees and department leadership.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to supervise and motivate personnel in a dynamic work environment.
· Able and willing to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed.
· Ability to travel within the service area and access to a reliable vehicle.
· Consistent attendance, punctuality, and the ability to quickly assimilate information and adapt to change.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and equipment. This role may require availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs. Must be able to stand, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Position includes a cell phone allowance due to on-call availability requirements.
