Job Title: Resident Services & Transportation Specialist

Reports To: Mission Director
Status: Non-Exempt / [Full-Time or Part-Time]
Position Summary
The Resident Services & Transportation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations and mission of Montana Rescue Mission by ensuring residents have safe, reliable access to essential services and by contributing to a clean, orderly, and well-functioning facility environment. This position goes beyond transportation. It serves as a key point of connection for residents as they navigate medical, legal, employment, and recovery-related appointments, while also supporting operational needs across the facility. The Specialist represents the Mission in the community and helps reinforce a culture of dignity, safety, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Transportation & Support
- Safely transport residents to medical, legal, employment, and other approved appointments
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of residents
- Maintain a respectful, professional, and supportive environment during transport
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations at all times
- Foster a respectful, calm, and supportive environment during transport
- Maintain appropriate boundaries while engaging compassionately with residents
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, changes, and resident needs
Program Support
- Complete deliveries and pick-ups as assigned (donations, supplies, including scheduled partner pickups such as Costco)
- Assist staff with transportation-related needs for program operations
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, schedules, and mileage records
- Coordinate with program staff to support transportation-related needs across departments
- Assist in ensuring efficient use of time and resources during non-driving periods
Facility Support & Productivity Tasks
- Perform a daily morning trash sweep in designated areas surrounding the facility
- Assist with general cleaning duties to support a safe and welcoming environment (e.g., light janitorial tasks, organization of common areas, etc.)
- Complete assigned support tasks to ensure consistent productivity and operational effectiveness
- Contribute to a culture of ownership and pride in the condition of the facility
Vehicle Maintenance & Care
- Perform routine cleaning of all assigned vehicles (interior and exterior)
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections and report any issues promptly
- Coordinate and/or transport vehicles for routine maintenance and repairs
- Ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for use at all times
Schedule Expectations
- Typical schedule may include Tuesday–Saturday shifts to support operational needs (including scheduled donation pickups)
- Flexibility may be required based on program demands
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and meet insurance requirements
- Experience driving vans or similar vehicles preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and remain productive during downtime
- Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
- Ability to assist passengers in and out of vehicles if needed
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 lbs (for deliveries and supplies)
- Ability to perform light cleaning and outdoor tasks
Work Environment
- Primarily vehicle-based with time spent outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Interaction with shelter residents and staff on a daily basis
- Regular interaction with residents, staff, and community partners
