Location: Asheville, NC
Job Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Shift: Evenings (Typically 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM; hours may vary)
Salary Range: $52,000 – $90,000 annually

Position Summary

The Sterile Processing Manager supports the Director of Sterile Processing in overseeing departmental operations and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role is responsible for managing daily activities, leading staff development initiatives, and driving quality and operational excellence to support safe, efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the Sterile Processing Department
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to department staff
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to optimize workflow and efficiency
• Participate in recruitment, hiring, and retention of qualified team members
• Ensure staff competency through training, education, and performance evaluation
• Maintain and enhance quality assurance and continuous improvement programs
• Support onboarding, orientation, and professional development initiatives
• Assess and recommend departmental equipment and resource needs
• Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization, and regulatory standards
• Promote organizational values through community and professional engagement

Schedule

• Full-time evening shift
• Typical hours: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Flexibility required based on operational needs and meetings

QualificationsRequired Education

• Completion of a Two-Year Surgical Technology Program OR
• CRCST or CSPDT certification

Preferred Education

• Associate Degree
• Bachelor’s Degree

Required Certifications

• CSPDT or
• IAHCSMM/HSPA certification

Experience RequirementsClinical Experience

• Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience
• Surgical Technology background or CRCST/CSPDT certification required

Leadership Experience

• Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
• In-depth knowledge of sterile processing operations and workflows
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
• Proficiency in computer systems and departmental software

Technical Knowledge Includes:

• Operating room instrumentation and equipment
• Aseptic techniques and sterilization processes
• Infection prevention and control practices

Systems & Service Lines

• Experience with SPM Workflow systems preferred
• Supported areas include:
  • Endoscopy (Endo)
  • Operating Room (OR)
  • Cardiovascular OR (CVOR)
  • Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• Additional coverage:
  • Inpatient services
  • Outpatient ambulatory clinics
