We are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our team in Marysville, Ohio. This is a long-term contract position within the automotive industry, offering an exciting opportunity to manage and optimize database systems while supporting development projects. The role involves ensuring the stability, security, and performance of SQL Server databases while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Development Support:
- Collaborate with application teams to understand requirements and recommend database solutions
- Install, configure, and optimize SQL Server instances
- Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships
- Attend architecture review meetings and manage DBA resource allocation
- Ensure timely delivery of DBA project deliverables
Performance Tuning & Monitoring:
- Monitor database performance and resolve bottlenecks
- Optimize queries, indexes, and configurations
- Use monitoring tools to track health, performance, and security
Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and test backup and recovery strategies
- Implement high availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, clustering, mirroring)
- Maintain disaster recovery documentation and readiness
Security & Compliance:
- Conduct periodic access reviews and enforce access policies
- Maintain SOX compliance documentation and backup metrics
- Support PII and data privacy initiatives
Communication & Reporting:
- Provide regular status updates and reports to management
- Foster collaboration between database and application teams
- Track and analyze job failures, portfolio growth, and system metrics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 5–8 years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA
- 2–4 years supporting large-scale projects
- 1–2 years of SOX compliance experience
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and security
- Familiarity with cloud computing, virtualization, and IaaS platforms
- Excellent communication, documentation, and project management skills
•Preferred Skills:
- Experience with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR)
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and database integration
- Experience with PDCA, 4-block analysis, and root cause documentation
