About the OpportunityDoherty is hiring an Engineering Technician for a leading manufacturing company. In this role, you’ll serve as a technical resource for engineering, manufacturing, and customer service teams. Responsibilities include processing Engineering Change Orders, developing cost quotes, implementing new manufacturing technologies, and designing production tooling and fixtures. What You’ll Do as an Engineering Technician:
- Create, edit, and review controlled documents for manufacturing processes
- Process Engineering Change Orders
- Develop accurate cost estimates and labor needs
- Obtain material quotes from vendors and update ERP system with pricing
- Create new items within ERP and communicate with Sales and customers to resolve quoting issues
- Fabricate First Article assemblies per customer drawings and specifications
- Complete First Article Analysis documentation
- Create detailed manufacturing processes and complete time studies
- Train and implement new products with the production team
- Support technical review process and review customer prints for manufacturability
- Recommend alternative components and cross materials for manufacturability
- Fabricate customer assemblies in short lead time scenarios and document methods
- Complete quality inspections including continuity testing, dimensional analysis, and functional testing
- Support production team as a technical resource and assist with wire cutting or assembly as needed
Required Engineering Technician Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- Willingness to learn hands-on fabrication and technical processes
- Tranability and adaptability to function independently after 4-6 weeks of training
Preferred:
- Experience in wire and cable manufacturing
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and electromechanical specifications
- Knowledge of electronics manufacturing and wire/cable processing
- Soldering skills
- Ability to write detailed instructions and processes
- Ability to crimp, plug, tin, and assemble wire and cable components
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- MS Visio & AutoCAD
