Employment Status: Part-Time 10 hours a week
Work Schedule: Mon-Thurs or Tues-Friday 2.5 hours with flexibility times during business hours discussed with the hiring manager.
Work Location: Remote within Tennessee
Compensation: $27.00 - $32.00 hourly
Position Summary
The IT Coordinator provides technological support and system administration for Guiding Star Mental Health. This role is responsible for onboarding setup, maintaining employee accounts and devices, managing CRM/EMR permissions, and ensuring HIPAA-compliant data security. The IT Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for technology troubleshooting and supports operational efficiency across all departments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain employee accounts, emails, and devices during onboarding and offboarding.
- Manage CRM/EMR permissions and ensure appropriate access controls.
- Provide day-to-day tech support for staff (hardware, software, connectivity, user issues).
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant systems and secure data management practices.
- Implement security updates, backups, and monitor system health.
- Assist VP HR and department leaders with technology needs for onboarding, training, and compliance.
- Track and report weekly on IT issues, onboarding completions, and security updates.
- Maintain equipment inventory, software licenses, and user documentation.
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized IT services or support.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support organizational needs.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Licensure if applicable)
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of IT support or systems administration experience, healthcare environment preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, data security, and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with CRM preferably Bitrix24, EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office-based with remote support capability.
- Prolonged sitting, computer, and phone use required.
Compliance Statement
This role is classified as Non-Exempt under FLSA. Must comply with HIPAA, CMS, and federal/state IT security regulations. This position may be structured as either W-2 employment or 1099 independent contractor, based on organizational needs and mutual agreement. Compensation, benefits, and compliance obligations differ accordingly. (Note: FLSA overtime rules apply only to W-2 non-exempt employees; they do not apply to 1099 contractors.)
