JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Early Childhood Ministry Director
Position Summary: To develop, lead and coordinate a dynamic and effective ministry that aligns with Lord of Life Identity Statement and Mission Policies along with CYF Mission and Vision and Best Practices for children Birth - Kindergarten and their families.
Department: Children, Youth and Family (CYF)
Reports to: CYF Executive Director
Supervises: Childcare Workers and CYF Summer Interns
Status: Full-time
FLSA: Exempt
Hours Worked Per Week: 40
Essential Functions:
- Church School (2 year olds – Kindergarten)
- Work with CYF team to develop curriculum.
- Recruit, train and offer weekly huddles for volunteer leaders.
- Create lesson plans, utilizing both existing resources and original ideas.
- Be present as support, resource and teaching as needed during Church School.
- Provide clear and consistent communication to congregation regarding Church School.
- Vacation Bible School
- Plan, prepare for and lead summer VBS for children ages 3 years – Kindergarten.
- Recruit and train volunteers, including middle school and high school leaders.
- Oversee the operation of the Childcare
- Recruit, train, support and review the childcare staff, including running quarterly staff meetings for the childcare.
- Ensure the needs of the children, families, staff and Lord of Life are met.
- Manage supplies and activities.
- Other Programming
- Work with CYF Executive Director and CYF Team to determine and develop and lead other strategic programming for children (and parents of) ages birth - Kindergarten.
- Support Baptism classes
- Present at all program times, unless otherwise determined in conjunction with CYF Executive Director
- Build relationships with youth, families and volunteers
Principal Functions:
Administrative Responsibilities
- Attend weekly CYF team meetings
- Attend Lord of Life staff meetings
- Meet regularly with the CYF Executive Director
- Work with other staff members to ensure accurate communication of upcoming event programs to the congregation
- Complete financial paperwork in a timely manner and maintain the Early Childhood budget

Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry or related field.
- Previous experience working with children and families.
Experience/Knowledge:
- Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the Lutheran confessions.
- Membership in Lord of Life is strongly recommended.
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Demonstrated ability to be relational with students, parents, and adult volunteers
- Experience recruiting adult volunteers
- Strong organizational skills required
