Summary:
The Grocery Clerk is responsible for stocking shelves, rotating inventory, and maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the grocery department. This role plays a vital part in ensuring availability, accuracy in pricing, and a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
• Greet customers promptly and courteously while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor during all interactions.
• Assist customers with product selection, answer questions, and provide informed recommendations.
Department Operational Support:
• Organize and stock shelves with dry goods, canned items, and non-perishable products according to store layout and planograms.
• Follow First In, First Out (FIFO)procedures to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Build displays, signage, and promotional features as directed by leadership.
• Monitor product levels and notify leadership of low stock or overstock issues.
• Unload deliveries and assist in breaking down pallets.
• Accurately label and price items according to company standards.

Store Safety and Sanitation:
• Maintain a clean and orderly floor, shelves, and aisle upkeep.
• Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Use approved cleaning supplies and ensure proper storage of chemicals.
• Report any safety, sanitation, or maintenance issues to management in a timely manner.

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in a retail environment.
• Work will be performed both inside (temperature-controlled environments i.e. refrigerator/freezer) and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions,
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended periods. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications:
• Flexibility in work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs is a requirement of employment.
• Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple priorities.
• Reading, writing, basic math, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
