This role is in line for Senior Associate / Associate Principal / Principal career trajectory.

Location: Boise, ID (Hybrid)

Lead healthcare environments that improve how people receive care.

An established Architecture & Design firm is seeking a Senior Architect III to join its Boise Healthcare Studio. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced architect who brings strong healthcare project expertise, technical depth, and the ability to guide teams and clients through complex project work.

This individual will lead healthcare projects from early planning and design through construction administration, balancing design quality, operational function, regulatory requirements, schedule, and budget. The right person is comfortable serving as a trusted advisor to clients, making sound project decisions, mentoring staff, and helping grow the healthcare practice across the region.

This role is best suited for someone who understands the demands of healthcare environments and can translate clinical, operational, and technical needs into thoughtful, buildable solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead healthcare projects through all phases, from programming and schematic design through construction documents and construction administration.
  • Make key architectural decisions that materially affect project quality, client outcomes, budget, and schedule.
  • Guide the development of design concepts, drawings, models, and technical documentation so design intent is carried through clearly and accurately.
  • Oversee drawing coordination, specifications, QA/QC, and code compliance across complex healthcare projects.
  • Collaborate with clients, user groups, consultants, contractors, and jurisdictional agencies throughout the life of each project.
  • Support healthcare planning efforts by aligning design solutions with clinical workflow, patient experience, staff efficiency, and operational goals.
  • Lead internal and external meetings related to design, production, coordination, contracts, and project execution.
  • Manage consultant teams across disciplines and maintain alignment throughout project delivery.
  • Serve as a senior resource and mentor to junior architects and project team members within the Boise studio.
  • Support business development efforts, proposal preparation, client relationship management, and strategic growth of the Healthcare Studio.
  • Help strengthen the firm's regional healthcare presence through trusted client partnership and consistent delivery.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed Architect in a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years of architectural experience with strong project leadership responsibility.
  • Meaningful experience in healthcare architecture, including complex project delivery and client coordination.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare building systems, technical detailing, life safety considerations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams across varying phases of work.
  • Strong experience with construction documents, consultant coordination, and construction administration.
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with acute care, ambulatory care, medical office buildings, outpatient facilities, or healthcare campus projects.
  • Familiarity with healthcare codes, standards, and agency review processes.
  • NCARB certification.
  • Experience with sustainable design principles, LEED, or integrated project delivery methods.
  • Working knowledge of BIM workflows, buildingSMART, and collaborative delivery environments.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp.

Why This Role

The Boise Healthcare Studio is focused on shaping environments that directly affect patient care, staff performance, and long-term facility value. You'll join a team that values strong design thinking, technical rigor, and real partnership with clients. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful healthcare work, influence project outcomes, mentor emerging talent, and help expand the studio's impact across the region.
