Senior Cloud Security Specialist (Contract)
Location: Washington, DC (Federal Government Environment)
Duration: Through December 2026 (with potential extensions)
On-Site: New York Ave, NW Washington, DC
REQUIRES US CITIZENSHIP, W-2
A leading Federal Government agency is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Specialist to join its Security Engineering team within the IT division at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. This is a high-impact role supporting enterprise cloud security strategy across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
You’ll serve as a subject matter expert (SME) driving secure architecture, automation, and integration across critical platforms—helping shape the future of federal cloud security.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and implement secure, resilient API integrations across cloud platforms
- Design and deliver end-to-end data access management solutions
- Develop automation and orchestration (serverless functions, event-driven workflows, scheduled jobs)
- Produce architecture documentation, data models, and attribute mappings
- Lead security design, implementation, and monitoring across cloud systems and applications
- Support CASB and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) initiatives
- Provide technical security advisory to engineering teams and stakeholders
- Create and maintain security configuration guides, standards, and playbooks
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment with enterprise security objectives
Required Experience
- Deep expertise in REST API integrations (design, security, automation, testing, and documentation)
- Strong understanding of resilient integration patterns (error handling, retries, monitoring)
- Proficiency in scripting/automation for security orchestration
- Hands-on experience with cloud security engineering across complex environments
- Strong knowledge of:

- Security architecture & operations
- DevSecOps and vulnerability management
- Zero Trust and Data Protection
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty (strongly preferred)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
- Experience with ServiceNow, Collibra, and Saviynt integrations
- Background in serverless and cloud-native architectures
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Experience with CASB solutions for SaaS security and visibility
Federal Experience (Highly Valued)
- Proven experience working within federal cybersecurity frameworks, including:
