Precision Tooling & Die Fabrication Specialist
Job Description
Job Description Your Day at Amsted Automotive Group
Picture your shift beginning at 2:30pm. You review fresh prints, pick materials, and dial in toolroom equipment to build or refine production tooling that runs right the first time. You’ll move between the lathe, mill, and grinders, check features with precision gauges, and sharpen tools before returning them to service. When a die needs a shakeout, you’ll set and run test dies, troubleshoot in-press or at the bench, correct issues, and document the fix. Safety is your constant—lockout/tagout, PPE, and a clean, orderly workstation—while you collaborate with fellow trades and production to align on manufacturability.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, second shift, 2:30pm–10:30pm.
What You’ll Tackle

- Set up and operate toolroom machinery; select materials, cutters, and fixturing with safety front and center.
- Sharpen, maintain, and condition tools prior to storage or release to production.
- Apply deep knowledge of jigs, fixtures, and dies to run and debug test dies; correct to print and process requirements.
- Use hand tools; perform heat treating or welding as needed to restore or enhance components.
- Follow lockout procedures and keep the work area clean, organized, and audit‑ready.
- Complete tool logs and condition reports to capture history and drive data‑based decisions.
- Partner with skilled trades and production teams; offer input on manufacturing capabilities and improvements.
- Handle additional assignments as directed.
