Job Title: Contract Paralegal

About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Contract Paralegal to join our Claims Department in Chicago. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting internal teams and external stakeholders with contract review, risk assessment, and compliance monitoring. You will play a critical role in ensuring the legal soundness of contracts while safeguarding our organization and clients from potential liabilities. This is not a client-facing legal advisor role and does not involve providing billable legal services.

Contract Review & Analysis:

Review a variety of contracts (e.g., NDAs, insurance carrier/vendor contracts, purchase agreements).

Identify legal risks, key obligations, and areas needing negotiation or revision.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry best practices.

Act as an authorized signatory on agency partner insurance contracts.

Drafting & Editing:

Assist in drafting contracts, amendments, and addenda.

Edit agreements for legal accuracy and clarity, incorporating feedback from attorneys and stakeholders.

Ensure consistency and enforceability across all documents.

Document Management:

Maintain a secure and organized system for all contracts and related materials.

Track renewal dates and contract obligations.

Manage execution timelines and ensure contracts are properly signed and stored.

External Responsibilities:

Risk & Compliance Assessment:

Identify potential legal and non-insurable risks in client-facing contracts.

Recommend contract modifications to enhance risk mitigation and legal compliance.

Maintain accurate records and update CRM systems with contract statuses and notes.

This Role Does Not Include:

Acting as an attorney or legal representative for clients.

Drafting or reviewing the full scope of client contracts.

Providing retainer or billable legal services.

Serving as an outsourced legal resource to clients.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Paralegal certificate strongly preferred.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a paralegal role, preferably in contracts, insurance, or claims.

Solid understanding of contract law and legal terminology.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems; CRM experience a plus.

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
