AUTOMATION / INDUSTRIAL PROJECT MANAGER

Summary/Objective:
The project manager is responsible for planning, overseeing, and leading projects from concept (quoting) through to completion (installation / shipping / billing). This position requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders, most often managing several moving project parts simultaneously. The project manager coordinates the efforts of our internal design team, logistics team, manufacturing and installation teams, contractors, and suppliers. Constant communication & accountability with all internal & external project stakeholders using industry best practices for project management is expected.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to work both independently and with groups across different levels of management throughout the company (Manufacturing, Engineering (Electrical & Mechanical), Purchasing, Sales).
- Ability to pull together cross-functional teams to complete project objectives (different disciplines of engineering, machining and build groups).
- Highly detailed and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to assume responsibility and see all tasks and open issues through to completion.
- Ability to oversee & manage multiple projects, at various stages of completion.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Manufacturing or automation industry experience preferred, but not required.
- Technical knowledge in mechanical or electrical/controls engineering preferred, but not required.
- Technically competent and proficient with various software programs: SmartSheet &/or Microsoft Project, Excel, Outlook, Word, Microsoft Teams
Responsibilities:
- Ensure projects meet deadlines.
- Review and maintain project budgets & drive profitability.
- Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems as they arise.
- Call, organize, and lead meetings with the appropriate stakeholders (internal & external).
- Document and distribute meeting notes, along with other project documentation.
- Assign action items and project deliverables to appropriate resources & groups.
- Plan and coordinate labor and equipment schedules.
- Act as an extension of the sales staff, ensuring customers are informed and satisfied with products, projects, and services.
- Manage relationships with customers, vendors, and contractors.
- Provide project updates, both to customers and internal groups.
- Lead and help internal teams work well together.
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing project documentation.
- Lead and participate in all project milestones (Quotes, project kick offs, design reviews, machine run offs).
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from vendors and contractors.
Experience:

1-3 years in project management or automation industry preferred, but not required.
Education:

Minimum of Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred in a business / logistics-related field or a combination of education and business experience that demonstrates higher level decision making based on judgement, education, and experience.

Bachelors in the following areas preferred or equivalent industry experience:

Degrees in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Work Environment:

Office environment with regular time needed on the shop floor.

Work From Home is available when needed and planned in advance.

Occasionally travel to customer sites to review projects, quotes, and to meet with customers.

This is a full-time position and overtime may occasionally be required based on project need.

Required that you be reachable via phone and email outside of normal working hours based on internal & external customer need.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, 40-hours per week position, and typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional shifts may be assigned as business needs dictate and occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
