Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Fiber Splicers (100% Remote) in Tempe, AZ. As a trusted partner in the construction industry, we connect top talent with top companies across the United States.

Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay: $30 - $38 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling throughout the data center according to design schematics and standards.
  • Terminate, splice, test, and certify single-mode and multi-mode fiber cables using tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicers.
  • Label and document fiber infrastructure accurately within databases or network management systems.
  • Support new hardware deployments, including racks, switches, and fiber patch panels.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber connectivity, signal loss, or cable damage.
  • Ensure all work complies with industry codes, internal standards, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in cabling and patching areas.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and project managers on deployment timelines and goals.
  • Participate in moves, adds, changes (MACs), and scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Follow safety protocols and use proper PPE in high-security and sensitive environments.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred (e.g., FOA CFOT, BICSI).
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience preferred with fiber optic installation and testing in a data center or telecom environment.
  • Proficient in fiber optic standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, ANSI) and structured cabling practices.
  • Familiar with tools such as fiber testers, OTDRs, light sources, microscopes, and crimping/termination kits.
  • Familiarity with copper cabling and general IT hardware installation.
  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting tools and basic Layer 1 concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, network diagrams, and cable schedules.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational/documentation skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to talk or hear, stand, walk, bend, stoop, stretch, twist, use hands, work in tight or restricted areas, and/or reach out for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Balance and agility: Working at heights and in awkward positions
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to enter, exit, and work in confined spaces
  • Holding and maneuvering materials in place for extended periods
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, mold, and other airborne particles
  • Working in extreme temperatures (hot attics, cold basements, outdoor sites)
  • Hearing sensitivity: Being able to tell the difference between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness
  • Must be aware of OSHA safety standards

Pay Transparency
The anticipated salary range for this position is $30 - $38 Per Hour BOE, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
