JOB SUMMARY: The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR missions to include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- CompTIA Security+CE equivalent or higher
- VMware Horizon certification
- VMware certification
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Currently possess an active Secret clearance - verification required
SHIFT: Day Shift - Full time on-site at Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Maryland (primary worksite); Work hours: 6:00am - 2:30pm or 10:00am - 6:00pm
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position requires extensive hands-on experience with enterprise VMware Horizon VD coupled with some project management skills. This network classified and unclassified VMware infrastructure.
- Serve as a Level 2 escalation point for the Service Desk, providing support for a diverse end-user population.
- Oversee the VMware Horizon VDI environment, including provisioning hosts, remediating hosts, and setting up virtual machines.
- Perform patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UAGs, Connection Servers and vCenters.
- Maintain working knowledge of ESXi hosts, clusters, and vSAN.
- Manage App Volumes, DEM, and have applicable knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and GPO.
- Manage the creation and maintenance of VDI Master Images - Win 10/11 base OS and business-specific applications.
- Analyzing, developing, integrating, and maintaining enterprise automation and operations based on community policies and guides.
- Support all aspects of the current and planned developed solutions, capabilities, risk mitigation, analysis of alternatives, testing.
- Strong understanding in how to design Horizon VDI infrastructure.
- Strong VDI troubleshooting skills AD/VMware/Horizon to quickly resolve outages.
- Assist in leading the development and implementation of senior management and customer O&M and future need requirements into detailed technical solutions.
- Help mentor and review the work of junior team members.
- Supports customer requirements in a 24/7/365 IT enterprise operations environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related.
Education and experience requirements may be substituted with:
1. A master's degree (in subjects described above) and 3 years of experience.
2. No degree with 10 years of intensive and progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency levels related to task - Minimum/General Experience: 3 - 5 years
- Functional Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain information technology systems. To include designing the basic computing infrastructure to accomplish key tasks, establishing networking rules for cybersecurity, and troubleshooting network errors or other technical issues.
- Active DOD Secret Clearance
