We are seeking a motivated and skilled Field Support Telecommunications Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be the primary on-site technical expert for our clients, ensuring the seamless operation, installation, and maintenance of our telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves extensive field work, diagnosing complex problems, and providing exceptional customer support to maintain high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • On-site Support & Troubleshooting: Respond to service requests and client queries to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues at customer premises.
  • Installation & Commissioning: Install, configure, and commission new telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, base station equipment, and fiber optic systems.
  • Maintenance & Optimization: Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on existing systems to ensure consistent network uptime and optimal performance, reducing equipment failure and incident response time.
  • Site Surveys & Planning: Conduct on-site surveys to document customer requirements and existing conditions, assisting in the design and implementation of network solutions.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation of all installations, configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures, including network diagrams and operational logs.
  • Collaboration & Training: Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, construction, sales) and external vendors or contractors. Provide guidance and training to client personnel on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Compliance: Ensure all field activities comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and internal policies.
  • On-Call Availability: Be available for on-call rotations and emergency response as required, which may involve working flexible hours and traveling to client sites on short notice.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: hands-on experience in telecommunications field support, network operations, or a similar role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of telecommunications technologies and protocols (e.g., VoIP, SIP, TCP/IP, MPLS), network hardware (routers, switches), and physical infrastructure (fiber optics, structured cabling, RF systems).
  • Experience in Networking on switches and routers and AP configuration
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Tools Proficiency: Experience using network analysis and testing tools such as OTDRs, Wireshark, or fiberscopes Computer kills, basic hand tools for telecom, proficent in ethernet color codes. Fiber experience a must
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional customer service, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Mobility: A valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory or to various project locations.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to perform physical job requirements, including lifting objects up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders or towers, and working in various indoor and outdoor environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent vendor-specific certifications.
  • Experience with specific base station vendors (e.g., yealink,) or enterprise wireless platforms.
  • Familiarity with robotic or IoT systems that rely on wireless communication in industrial environments (e.g., logistics, manufacturing).
