Position Summary
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily outbound shipping operations to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective shipments. This role supervises shipping staff, coordinates carrier pickups, ensures compliance with customer and carrier requirements, and supports overall warehouse performance and service levels.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise daily shipping operations, including staging, loading, and dispatch of outbound orders
· Ensure all shipments are processed accurately and meet customer, Transfers, and compliance requirements
· Coordinate carrier schedules, appointments, and dock activities
· Review shipping documentation, including BOLs, packing lists, ASNs, and labels
· Monitor workload, labor allocation, and productivity to meet shipping deadlines
· Communicate shipment status, delays, or issues to internal teams (Customer Service, Transportation, Planning)
· Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, damages, or mis-shipments
· Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies
· Train, coach, and support shipping associates and leads
· Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shipping area
· Support peak volume operations, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
Systems & Tools
· Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
· Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
· ERP systems (ROI, ProShip, Latitude, or similar)
· RF scanners, shipping software, and label generation systems
· Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required
· 3–5 years of shipping or distribution center experience
· 1–3 years of supervisory or lead experience
· Strong knowledge of outbound shipping processes and carrier requirements
· Experience with LTL, FTL, parcel, and customer-specific routing guides
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
