Maintenance Supervisor Facilities & Light Rail Infrastructure

Location: Baltimore City, MD (Maryland Transit Administration Light Rail Facilities)

Position Summary

OTAS is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team responsible for maintaining Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) light rail facilities, stations, maintenance shops, and support buildings. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader with experience supervising commercial maintenance personnel in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will coordinate daily work assignments, ensure quality workmanship, maintain a safe work environment, and serve as the primary point of contact between field personnel and project management.

Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Supervise daily activities of maintenance technicians.
  • Assign and prioritize work orders.
  • Monitor employee attendance and productivity.
  • Train and mentor maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with company and MTA policies.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and documentation.

Building Maintenance

Supervise and perform maintenance and repairs involving:

Carpentry

  • Doors
  • Windows
  • Cabinets
  • Trim
  • Ceilings
  • Walls
  • Baseboards
  • Roofing
  • Gutters
  • Stairs
  • Signage

Masonry & Concrete

  • Sidewalk repairs
  • Concrete patching
  • Pavers
  • Block repairs
  • General masonry work

Flooring

  • Carpet replacement
  • Floor tile repair
  • Vinyl flooring
  • Base installation

Painting

Coordinate and perform:

  • Interior painting
  • Exterior painting
  • Graffiti removal
  • Safety striping
  • Touch-up painting
  • Station appearance improvements

Station & Facility Maintenance

Maintain MTA facilities including:

  • Passenger stations
  • Maintenance shops
  • Storage buildings
  • Administrative offices
  • Restrooms

Repair and maintain:

  • Benches
  • Trash receptacles
  • Shelters
  • Railings
  • Glass panels
  • High-block platforms
  • Parking areas
  • Doors
  • Windows
  • Lighting

Preventive Maintenance

Coordinate and complete scheduled inspections including:

  • OSHA safety inspections
  • Eye wash stations
  • Lighting inspections
  • Environmental inspections
  • Housekeeping inspections
  • Oil and grease tank inspections
  • General station inspections

Correct deficiencies identified during inspections.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete daily reports
  • Document completed work
  • Track labor hours
  • Coordinate material requests
  • Schedule equipment
  • Maintain inventory
  • Communicate project status to management and MTA representatives

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of commercial building maintenance experience
  • 2+ years supervising maintenance personnel
  • Experience in carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance
  • Ability to read work orders and construction drawings
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass required background screening

Physical Requirements

  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb ladders and stairs.
  • Walk extended distances along rail facilities.
  • Use hand and power tools safely.
  • Work occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency call-outs as needed.
