POSITION SUMMARY
Regents School of Austin seeks a Christ-centered, highly relational, and high-competence Head High School (School of Rhetoric) Girls Basketball Coach to build and lead an aligned 7-12 girls basketball program. In the proper context, Regents Athletics serves as a formative arena in which students mature in Christ-like character, and coaches lead in a manner that honors God and conveys a positive Christian witness.
This is a stipend position if hired only to coach. Otherwise, this position could be filled by a current or prospective 7-12th-grade teacher, depending on experience and gifting. Subject matter taught would be based on experience. Note that the benefits listed below are for full-time employees. If part-time or seasonal as a stipend-only employee, benefits would not apply.

What You'll Lead

Build a program, not just a team: Establish a clear, multi-year vision, standards, and development pathway from middle school (School of Logic) through varsity.

Disciple and develop student-athletes: Intentionally shepherd hearts and habits through athletics, including team devotions, mentorship, accountability, and service.

Engage the Regents basketball community: Unite players, parents, alumni, and local relationships into a healthy, mission-aligned baseball culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership & Culture

Establish and protect a Christ-honoring team culture, including language, behavior, sportsmanship, and standards.

Plan and execute a year-round program calendar, including in-season competition, off-season development, leadership training, and team-building.

Implement fair, documented, and development-focused player evaluation and role-clarity processes.
Coaching & Player Development

Design and lead high-quality practices with clear progressions emphasizing fundamentals, strategy, and situational understanding.

Manage game strategy, lineups, and in-game adjustments while modeling composure, respect, and sportsmanship.

Recruit, hire, and supervise assistant coaches; clearly define roles, expectations, and communication rhythms.

Align the coaching staff around shared teaching language, standards, and discipleship philosophy.
Community & Relationships

Build and steward a broad basketball network that serves Regents athletes, including alumni engagement, clinics, guest instructors, and local partnerships.

Communicate proactively and consistently with players and parents regarding schedules, expectations, and development.
Operations, Safety, & Compliance

Coordinate scheduling and logistics with the Athletic Department.

Oversee facility stewardship and equipment inventory.

Maintain student-athlete eligibility and comply with all school, league, and TAPPS requirements.

Complete and maintain all required safety trainings, including CPR and other school-mandated certifications.

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated basketball coaching success (high school, college, or equivalent) with strong command of fundamentals, strategy, and player development.

Bachelor's degree required; advanced study or certifications preferred, if teaching.

Demonstrated Christian faith and a passion to disciple students through athletics.

Experience coaching at a competitive level with knowledge of fundamentals, strategy, and athlete development.

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and mentoring skills.
-
Ability to maintain clear records of student progress, development, and team performance.

Understanding of and commitment to Classical Christian pedagogy and mission-driven student development.

Completion of all school-required safety, compliance, and background screenings.

Adhering to and doing nothing in conflict with the Mission, Philosophy, Objectives, and Doctrinal Statement set out in Article II of the Bylaws.
