The Pharmacist-in-Charge will initially serve as a hands-on operational leader responsible for sterile compounding activities, batch record development, media fills, process improvement, team supervision, and pharmacy operations. As the organization grows and additional pharmacists are hired, the role will transition into a more strategic and administrative leadership position.
This is not a traditional desk-based management role. During startup and product launch phases, the PIC should expect to spend time in the clean room, participate in production activities, and help establish operational workflows.
Operational Leadership:
Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge for a growing 503B outsourcing facility
Lead day-to-day pharmacy operations
Establish and improve production workflows and efficiencies
Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, ownership, consultants, and quality teams
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing pharmacy personnel
Help build a scalable pharmacy operation capable of future growth
Sterile Compounding & Production:
Participate in sterile compounding activities
Work in ISO 7 clean room environments
Complete gowning and clean room requirements
Support and perform media fills
Assist with clean room activities and cleaning procedures
Understand equipment requirements, including repeater pumps and associated production systems
Support product launch initiatives and production readiness activities
Documentation & Process Development:
Create, review, and maintain batch records
Support formulation calculations and scaling activities
Assist in SOP development and process improvements
Build operational documentation and production workflows
Ensure compliance with pharmacy operational procedures and standards
Work alongside quality teams to maintain documentation accuracy
Team Development:
Supervise pharmacy personnel
Train and mentor new team members
Support onboarding and development of future pharmacists and technicians
Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Required
Active Pharmacist license or ability to obtain Missouri licensure
Sterile compounding experience
Experience working within ISO 7 clean room environments
Experience with gowning procedures and aseptic technique
Strong understanding of pharmacy operations and documentation
Leadership, supervisory, or team mentorship experience
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
503A compounding pharmacy experience
503B outsourcing facility experience
Pharmacist-in-Charge experience
Batch record development and review
Media fill experience
Formulation calculation experience
Experience with repeater pumps and sterile manufacturing processes
SOP development and process improvement experience

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maryland Heights, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $109.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
